By inhibiting SGLT2, Ertugliflozin reduces renal reabsorption of filtered glucose and lowers the renal threshold for glucose, and thereby increases urinary glucose excretion. Ertugliflozin also causes an osmotic diuresis, which may result in increase of urinary glucose excretion.
