18th Century Black & Gold Lacquer Tea Caddy The LibraryAn 18th century black and gold lacquer tea caddy in original untouched condition. The tea caddy is decorated with ornate foliate gilt designs throughout with brass carrying handles to each side. The hinged lid has a decorative painted armorial to the centre and opens to reveal a plush interior with four metal tea canisters. The mixing bowl is absent. The caddy shows signs of wear commensurate with age throughout with losses to the lacquer and denting

carrying the maker’s ‘Trademark’ logo with the reversed ‘S’ in ‘FBS’ showing that this compass post-dates the death of Francis Barker in 1875
