Akadama is used as the standard soil in bonsai and is highly regarded for its nutrient holding capacity and scalability. Akadama can be utilized either by itself when potting deciduous trees, or mixed with other soil types for other species. Most notably the 1: 1: 1 Akadama, Kiryu, Hyuga mix used for conifers. Offered here in three particle sizes this material is pre sifted,
1/8" - 1/4" particles of black japanese lava rock also called Fujizuna
Note this is a black color lava
Kanuma is also suitable for use when creating rooted cuttings
