Wendy Edwards Beardall-Norton - Streets of Salamanca Voice and guitarIn August of 2015, we had a wonderful opportunity to visit a former music student of mine, Aine Kelly Costello, in Salamanca, Spain. Neither Chris nor I had visited Spain before and I quickly fell in love with its vibe and especially with its music, whose rhythms have often inflected many of my own compositions. I loved the movement and colour of the streets, and this collection strives to give a taste of its many flavours! Wendy Edwards Beardall

While travel has been so restricted during these past two years

With original ideas and practical examples at the turn of every page

For example the ‘celtic’ themed works Coire Fhionn Lochan and The Road to Kilchurn Castle are derived from very familiar elements but which challenge the players ability to deal with irregular times and juxtaposed rhythmic material

the second has a cantabile 6/8 theme that ushers in a faster figure
