THINGS QUOTED BY PETER IN HIS EPISTLE
I PETER 1:2– EXODUS 24:6-8:
And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
And he took the book [scroll] of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient.
And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.
I PETER 1:16 – LEVITICUS 11:44A:
For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy.
I PETER 1:24-25 – ISAIAH 40:6-8:
The voice [of the Lord] said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness [loveliness] thereof is as the flower of the field:
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit [breath] of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people are grass.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the Word of our God shall stand for ever.
I PETER 2:4-5 – EPHESIANS 2:20-22:
And are [being] built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.
In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the lord.
In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through [by] the spirit.
I Peter 2:6 – ISAIAH 28:16:
Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste [not be ashamed, not be disappointed].
I PETER 2:7 – PSALM 118:22:
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
I PETER 2:8 – ISAIAH 8:14A:
And he shall be … for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel.
I Peter 2:10– HOSEA 1:6&8-9:
And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name ‘Loruhamah’ [‘not receiving mercy’]: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them [the kingdom which belongs to them] away.
Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.
Then said God, Call his name ‘Loammi’ [‘not My people’]: for ye are not My people, and I will not be your God.
I Peter 2:22– ISAIAH 53:9B:
… because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
I PETER 2:24&25 – ISAIAH 53:5&6A:
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
I PETER 3:10-12 – PSALM 34:12-16A:
What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous [just], and His ears are open unto their cry.
The face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
I PETER 4:8 – PROVERBS 10:12:
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
I PETER 5:5 – PSALM 138:6 & PROVERBS 3:34:
Though the Lord be high, yet hath He respect unto the lowly: but the proud He knoweth afar off.
Surely He scorneth the scorners: but He giveth grace unto the lowly.
II PETER 1:20-21
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private [one’s own] interpretation.
For the prophecy [of the Scripture] came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
I PETER 1:3-4,7&13*
Blessed is the God and Father of our lord Jesus Christ, Who according to His great mercy caused us, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to be born again with a view to a living hope, that is, with a view to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance reserved in heaven for you.
So that the proof [genuineness] of your believing (which is of much more value than gold, which perishes and which is proved by fire) may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
Wherefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and set your hope completely on the grace that is to be brought to you at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
